Yes. I worked with him in the early 1990s with an attempted port of occam to the PC, focusing on the bottom-level X86 instructions. His stuff was very fast. Unfortunately we never finished the language part — a job that still remains to be done today.

I remember Michael at many a CPA bash.  He was always friendly, helpful and unassuming – no airs and graces, just intelligence and insight.  Michael was one of those who made those occasions so enjoyable.
