PhD Studentships in Engineering

Applications from outstanding candidates are invited for fully funded studentships to undertake PhD studies at the Department of Engineering, within the Communications and Imaging Research Group, in the area of Parallel and Image Processing. Candidates should have at least a 2:1 honours degree or MSc in engineering, applied mathematics, physics, or another related subject. The studentships will cover UK/EU tuition fees and provide tax-free maintenance grants of £9,000 per annum each for three years.

Electronic engineering, communications and internet technologies, image and signal processing, laser technology, holography, VLSI design, parallel systems, and artificial intelligence.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Engineering is a well-established and modern multi-disciplinary department, which offers postgraduate opportunities in a very wide range of topics across the spectrum of engineering activity. It is one of the largest departments in the University with an undergraduate population of nearly 600 students and approximately 60 postgraduate researchers. All areas of research in the Department are supported by well-founded laboratories with state of-the-art equipment and fully networked computing facilities including major engineering commercial software. There is excellent technical support provided by electronic and mechanical engineering workshops.
